Attorney Bio
Douglas S. Kepanis
Douglas S. Kepanis, LL.M. was born in Queens and raised on Long Island. After graduating from Binghamton University with a BA in Political Sciences, he attended the California Western School of Law where he was Editor of the Law Review and International Law Journal, graduating cum laude with his Juris Doctorate. As he was always interested in world events, he studied International and Comparative Law at the Georgetown University Law Center where he obtained, with distinction, his LL.M. degree.
After practicing with a prestigious Garden City matrimonial and family law firm, Douglas decided to bring his brand of legal practice to the community. Setting out to not only advocate aggressively for his clients, Douglas also believes an attorney should demonstrate genuine compassion for his clients' needs. Whether it is going through a divorce, child custody, or child preceeding, emotions can run very high. The goal of The Kepanis Law Firm is to not only guide you through the legal minefield that encompasses those areas of law, but to also ensure you are treated with respect and listened to every step of the way.
Douglas is active in the community, performing pro bono work, lecturing at Parents Without Partners, writing a Good Advice article on divorce in L.I. Woman Magazine, and being named a Long Island "Legal Eagle" by L.I. Pulse Magazine. Additionally, Douglas will be seen on BRAVO television in early 2011.
After seeing many friends struggle through the divorce process, Douglas became interested in ensuring that the mistakes they made would never be made by others. That is why he started The Kepanis Law Firm, to help others through this legally complicated and emotionally draining time.
